COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior Lindsey Hedberg has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. This is Hedberg's third career weekly honor.

Hedberg compiled a 4-0 record in singles and doubles play as the Aztecs went 4-0 for the week, including two wins over ranked opponents. In the Aztecs 4-3 victory over No. 54 Purdue, Hedberg pulled in a straight set win over Amy Walgenbach at No. 2 singles, and along with Katja Karrento, defeated Melissa Woods and Melissa Igbal, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles. Hedberg also helped SDSU get off to a good start in conference play with wins over No. 52 New Mexico (5-2) and Air Force (7-0). Against the Lobos, she was victorious over Maja Kovacek at the No. 2 position (4-6, 6-2, 7-5) and again teamed with Katja Karrento to beat Tiffany Robertson and Michelle Hiedbrink at the No. 2 spot, 8-5. Hedberg then defeated Air Force's Heather Shelby in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 singles and partnered with Sarah Sansom to blank Jen Nigro and Katie Tomkie, 8-0, in No. 3 singles. She ended the week beating Loyola Marymount's Penka Fileva at the No. 2 position, 6-2, 6-3, and with Sansom, shutting out Georgie Dinham and Jennifer Baker at No. 3 doubles, 8-0. Hedberg currently stands at 13-5 (12-3 dual) in singles action and 11-7 (10-6 dual) in doubles play on the season.
