COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico junior Sandy Lukowski and UNLV senior Paulina Janus have been named Mountain West Conference Women's co-Tennis Players of the Week. This is Lukowski's first career weekly honor, while Janus is awarded her fifth.

Lukowski, a Calgary, Alberta, product, pulled in a 2-1 record at the No. 2 position in singles competition for the Lobos last week. Both of her victories came in straight sets, including an upset win over No. 32 Tulane's 21st-ranked Julie Smekodub (7-5, 6-1). She also went on to defeat Christina Arribas of Virginia Commonwealth, 6-3, 7-6.

Janus helped then 18th-ranked UNLV to a 1-1 record on the week with her performance at No. 1 singles and, along with Agnieszka Abram, at No. 1 doubles. Against No. 32 Texas A&M, Janus and Abram downed Ashley Hedberg and Lauren Walker, 8-6, to secure the doubles points. With the match tied a three apiece, she was victorious over Jessica Rowland at No. 1 singles, earning the deciding team points in the Rebels 4-3 win. With the victory over Rowland, she also earned her 50th career win as a Rebel. In the Rebels loss to No. 6 Duke, Janus and Abrams started the day off upsetting the Blue Devils 2nd-ranked tandem of Amanda Johnson and Julie DeRoo, 9-8. Later on she came within two points of one of the biggest upsets in school history, falling to No. 2 Kelly McCain in three sets, 6-4, 0-6, 0-1 (10-8).
