MWC Weekly Tennis Awards BYU's Dominik Kaufhold and San Diego State's Alesya Vidova garner weekly honors.
March 9, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU's Dominik Kaufhold and San Diego State's Alesya Vidova have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. A junior from Breitscheid, Germany, Kaufhold was 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles play last week. He posted victories at the No. 2 singles position over Marquette (6-0, 6-3), No. 19 Louisville (6-2, 6-2) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-4, 7-6). He also teamed with Ivan Kokurin at No. 3 doubles to earn wins over Marquette (8-5) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (8-3). A junior from Moscow, Russia, Vidov went 2-0 in singles play, while helping the Aztecs to a 2-0 record last week, including an upset victory over No. 38 Washington. At the No. 2 singles position Vidov defeated Idaho's Mariel Tinnirello (6-3, 6-2). Later in the week, Vidov posted a comeback win over Washington's Victoria Brymer (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 [3]). Vidov teamed with Aleska Krausova to post a pair of wins at No. 2 doubles, defeating Idaho (8-5) and Washington (8-1).
