PROVO, Utah - The No. 32 BYU women's and No. 62 men's tennis teams played tough matches against ranked foes with the women taking home a 4-3 advantage over No. 43 Colorado, and the men taking a tough lose to No. 29 Texas Tech. The women continued their win streak to five while the men ended their three game win streak with their lose to Texas Tech.

"It was a good fight," said BYU women's head coach Craig Manning. "We fought really hard and some girls are struggling, they look fatigued, but we're fighting."

Anastasia Surkova, Chie Hayasaka, and Sofia Holden won their singles matches in straight sets while Surkova, Miccoli and Jones, Holden pulled off wins. The Cougars beat the Buffaloes 4-3 and improved to 7-4 on the season.

The men had a tough schedule at Corpus Christi, Texas, where their first match of the day was against the second seeded team in the tournament, No. 29 Texas Tech. Then they suffered a tough defeat to host No. 54 Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

"It was a tough draw," BYU men's tennis head coach Brad Pearce said. "We knew there was some great competition here and that's why we come to these meets. However, To go from indoor's and cold weather and leaving early in the morning and to come to 80 degrees and play some very good competition was tough on our guys. We are going to get some rest and try to get a win tomorrow."

The women take on Rice University on Thursday at 4:00. The men compete again March 3 against Texas-Pan American at noon (CST).
