Mountain West Conference Announces Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week
Air Force's Tahlia Smoke and UNLV's Mehdi Bouras earn the awards

UNLV’s Mehdi Bouras has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while Air Force’s Tahlia Smoke has been selected as the MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Bouras, hailing from Paris, France, went a combined 4-0 last weekend to lead the Rebels to victories over 31st-ranked Fresno State (W, 4-3) and 58th-ranked Arkansas (W, 4-2). On Friday against the Bulldogs, Bouras, who entered the match ranked No. 76 in the nation, rallied from a first-set deficit to down 83rd-ranked Rikus de Villiers, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2. Earlier in the match, he teamed with partner Bernard Schoeman to knock off the 29th-ranked doubles tandem of de Villers and Remi Boutillier, 8-3. On Sunday, Bouras won his seventh consecutive dual singles match, securing a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Razorback’s Matt Hogan at the No. 1 singles position. Bouras and Schoeman also earlier won their doubles match in the duel, notching a 8-6 victory over Hogan and Matt Walters.
A product of Belmar, N.J., Smoke went a combined 8-0 last weekend as Air Force went 4-0 against Dayton (W, 5-2), West Virginia State (W, 7-0), Ball State (W, 6-1) and Robert Morris (W, 6-0). Smoke won all four of her singles matches in straight sets, including three of them at the No.1 singles position. The junior also teamed with partner Melissa Cecil to secure four victories at the top of the doubles lineup.
