LAS VEGAS - Agnieszka Abram came to UNLV four years ago in pursuit of a dream.

The senior from Warsaw, Poland, who in high school spent time as the Polish junior tennis national champion in both singles and doubles, came to America hoping to become one of the best collegiate players in the world.

Things have not gone exactly as planned, but Abram will finish her college career this spring with no complaints. While an injury has stood in the way of her dreams, the Rebels' lone senior has been presented with other opportunities she never imagined.

"I think I made the right decision coming here," said Abram, who also was recruited by Florida and Tulane. "I'll graduate in May and have a degree."

She'll also have a job, soon to be followed by a husband. Abram, who served an internship last summer, plans to accept a job offer as a marketing consultant, and she recently became engaged to former Rebels tennis player Adam Thurgood. The couple plans to live in Las Vegas after getting married in Poland next spring.
