Air Force Academy sophomore Gina Black is this week's Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Black, a Chesapeake, Va. native, went undefeated individually and in doubles competition as the Falcons went 3-0 last week. Against Texas Tech, Black beat Noel Ruiz in straight sets (7-5, 6-3) at the No. 6 position and teamed with Heather Shelby to defeat Kendall Brooks and Alenka Ovin at No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Against Southern Colorado, Black moved up to the No. 4 spot and defeated Angie Stultz 6-0, 6-1 and, with Shelby, was victorious over Cippolla and Amber Bettis in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. She ended her week at the No. 3 singles position and defeated Metro State's Jessica Meares in straight sets (6-0, 6-4). In No. 1 doubles, she teamed with Shelby to outpoint Hande Giorar and Jasmon Crabb, 8-4.
