COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Air Force junior Katie Tomkie has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. This is Tomkie's first career player of the week honor.

Tomkie, a Dewitt, Mich., product, pulled in a 2-0 record in singles play and a 1-1 record in doubles competition for the Falcons last weekend. Against Colorado College, Tomkie teamed with Kelly Morgan at No. 2 doubles to beat Hilary Zellerbach and Jamie Martin, 9-8. She followed with an 8-1 win over Mari Hunter at No. 3 singles. Against No. 57 Colorado, Tomkie won the lone point for the Falcons with her straight set (6-3, 7-5) win over Jenny Hanson at No.5 singles. After the weekend action, she is now 4-3 overall (4-1 dual) in singles play and, along with Morgan, 4-4 overall (3-1) in doubles.
