New Mexico's Choate Named MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Senior garners honor for the first time this season.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico senior Courtney Choate is this week's Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after three impressive performances against higher ranked competition last week. On Jan. 25 against San Diego, Choate posted a victory over Annie Rapp in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) at the No. 4 position. In doubles action at the No. 2 position, Choate teamed with Michelle Hiedbrink to defeat Rapp and Tara Livesay, 8-5. Against No. 52 Kansas State on Jan. 26, Choate played Maria Rosenberg tough before falling 6-4, 7-6, but helped bring home a victory in doubles action, beating the duo of Perta Sedlmajerova and Kathy Chuda 8-3. On Jan. 27 versus 51st ranked Arizona, the San Angelo, Texas, native posted another straight set victory at the No. 4 position over Perrine Perrin, 7-5, 6-4. She ended her weekend by claiming another doubles win with Hiedbrink, defeating Laura Marino and Marie-Pier Poulist, 8-4. This is Choate's first career player of the week award.
