Four of Five Cougars Advance in Main Draw of Regionals

TULSA, Okla. - Four of the five Cougars that competed in the singles main draw of the ITA Region Championships on Thursday were able to win and advance to the round of 32. Dominique Reynolds, Rebecca Pike, Lu Oswald and Tara Porter were all able to win opening round matches to advance.

Tara Porter has rattled off five straight victories in the qualifying and main draw rounds to advance to the round of 32. She was able to beat Dasha Zhurin of Colorado State. Reynolds beat Bethany Griffen of Oklahoma 6-2, 6-3. Pike advanced by beating Elena Jirnova of Oklahoma 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Lu Oswald easily defeated Kendra Strandemo of Colorado 6-1, 6-3.

Elizaveta Khoudoirova was the only Cougar not to advance. She lost to Ines Furtmayr of Oklahoma State 6-1, 6-3.
