Ram Women's Tennis Finishes Fifth In The Mountain West Conference Colorado State defeats Utah 4- to win the MWC Consolation Championship.
April 30, 2005 San Diego, Calif.- The Colorado State women's tennis team defeated Utah 4-1 today to win the Mountain West Conference Consolation Championship. The Rams are now 15-9 for the year and finished fifth in the conference. The Rams capitalized singles play winning matches 3,4, 5, and 6 to defeat the Utes. Alex Paganetti defeated Cinthia Saucedo in a quick 6-1, 6-1 match. Carla Pallares and Jessica Jones each won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Anne Andersen sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat over Whitney Eber. Dasha Zhurin and Emily Kirchem did not finish at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, because of the four singles wins. Despite a great effort, the Rams lost the doubles point by losing at No.2 and 3. Andersen and Kirchem defeated Elizabeth Ferris and Allison Hansen 8-3 at the No. 1 spot. Jones and Pallares lost 8-3 to Emily Kwok and Eber at No. 2. At No. 3, Zhurin and Paganetti were defeated by Saucedo and Cheyenne Reveche 8-5. Colorado State 4, Utah 1 Singles Doubles
