No. 4 Seed TCU Earns Fourth Consecutive Trip to Mountain West Women's Tennis Championship Match
April 29, 2011 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The fourth-seeded and 71st-ranked TCU women's tennis team advanced to the finals of the Mountain West Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-2 win over No. 1 seed and 38th-ranked UNLV Friday at University Tennis Complex on the campus of Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo. The Horned Frogs will take on second-seeded Utah tomorrow at 10 a.m. MT. TCU started the match by clinching the doubles point with wins from the duo of Katariina Tuohimaa and Maria Babnova and the tandem of Idunn Hertzberg and Gaby Mastromarino, at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. Olivia Smith claimed the first singles victory of the match for the Horned Frogs, recording a two-set decision (6-0, 6-2) over Aleksandra Josifoska at the No. 2 position, but UNLV pulled to within 2-1 after Nives Pavlovic earned a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Mastromarino at No. 3. TCU jumped out to a 3-1 advantage when Hertzberg defeated Maskaljun (6-2, 6-2) at the No. 5 singles position. Moments later, UNLV's Jana Albers cut the Horned Frogs' lead to 3-2 with a two-set win over Shalini Sahoo (6-3, 6-1). Denti secured the victory for the Horned Frogs, recording a come-from-behind win over Adrienn Hidvegi at the No. 4 singles position ( 2-6, 6-2, 6-4).
