SDSU Defeats CSU In Second Round Of MWC Women's Tennis Championship Aztecs to play for conference title on Saturday.
April 27, 2001
FT. COLLINS, Colo. - Second-seeded San Diego State defeated sixth-seeded Colorado State, 4-0, at the CSU Tennis Courts Friday. San Diego State has gone a perfect 4-0 in both matches in the tournament. The Aztecs will face top-seeded BYU in the title match Saturday. The momentum Colorado State had after upsetting third-seeded UNLV, 4-2, Thursday was not enough to defeat San Diego State. The Aztecs earned the doubles point with victories in all three doubles spots. The Aztecs then swept four singles matches to seal their place in the championship match. San Diego State is now 8-1 against MWC opponents and 17-7 on the year. The No. 46 Aztecs face No. 31 BYU Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the CSU Tennis Courts. BYU was San Diego State's only conference loss this season. Colorado State is 13-11 on the year and 3-6 against the MWC. The Rams compete for third-place against fourth-seeded New Mexico Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the CSU Tennis Courts.
