Top-Seeded Aztecs Down Wyoming in First Round of MWC Championships Cowgirls next face Utah in the consolation round.

LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming women's tennis team lost it's first round match at the Mountain West Conference Championships Thursday, bowing 5-0 to no. 1 seed San Diego State in Provo, Utah. San Diego State, ranked no. 28 nationally and the regular season MWC champion, took the doubles point from Wyoming with wins at the no. 2 and 3 positions and took singles matches in the two, four, five and six spots. No. 1 and no. 3 singles matches and the no. 1 doubles match weren't completed. Wyoming's Yuliani Santi fell 6-1, 6-1 in no. 2 singles to Lindsey Hedberg; Aztec Katalina Romero topped Paulina del Monte 6-2, 6-2 in the no. 4 spot; Indra Erichsen picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kati Gyulai in no. 5 singles and Toni Terhaar fell 6-1, 6-1 to Julie Ana Chidely in no. 6 singles. The Cowgirls square off with Utah, a 5-0 loser to BYU Thursday, in a 2 p.m. Friday tilt in the consolation round. In other action Thursday, UNLV beat Colorado State 4-0 and New Mexico downed Air Force 4-1. Complete Match Results:
