New Mexico Advances with 4-0 Win Over Air Force in MWC Quarterfinals Lobos will face San Diego State in Semifinal action tomorrow.

SAN DIEGO - Third-seeded New Mexico swept sixth-seeded Air Force, 4-0, in the final match of the first round at the 2003 MWC Women's Tennis Championship Thursday at Barnes Tennis Center. The Lobos doubles pairs of Maja Kovacek and Sandy Lukowski and Rachel Hatley and Maria Ruiz-Fabrega collected wins at number one and number three doubles, respectively, to collect the doubles point for 48th-ranked New Mexico. UNM went on to win straight set matches at the number three, four and six positions in singles play to finalize the sweep. New Mexico is now 15-8 on the season and advances to play No. 2 seed San Diego State in the semifinal action on Friday at 2 p.m. at SDSU Courts. Air Force falls to 15-12 on the year and will face Utah in the 2p.m. match of the consolation bracket at Barnes Tennis Center on Friday.
