Cowgirls Fall to Top-Seeded UNLV Wyoming will face Colorado State on Friday.

San Diego, Calif. - Top-seeded and 28th-ranked UNLV defeated the eighth seeded University of Wyoming Cowgirls in first round action of the 2003 Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Championships Thursday in San Diego. The Rebels took the first four points of the dual, one by double's competition and three in single's play. UNLV's Agnieszka Abram and Pauline Janus defeated Cowgirls Jennifer Hanncock and Yuliani Santi 8-1 in No. 1 doubles play. The Rebels picked up their second doubles victory when Gyorgyi Zsiros and Amy Hadiosmanovic put down Gwen Moser and Megan Williams of Wyoming 8-1 in No. 3 competition. UNLV No. 1 Gyorgyi Zsiros defeated top Cowgirl Patricia Chien 6-1, 6-3 to give the Rebels their second team point. Tracie Chong of UNLV defeated UW's Jennifer Hancock 6-4, 6-0 in No. 4 play. UNLV picked up the dual win after Amy Hadziosmanovic beat Gwen Moser 6-0, 6-1. UNLV improves to 16-4 on the season, while Wyoming moves to 8-14. The Rebels will face BYU in semifinal action tomorrow.
