Women's Tennis Keeps Streak Alive Aztecs down No. 31 Tulsa.
April 20, 2001 SAN DIEGO - The 46th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team extended its win streak to eight matches Friday with a, 5-2, victory over 31st-ranked Tulsa at the SDSU Tennis Courts. The Aztecs move to 14-7 on the year and have now won 10 of their last 12 matches. Tulsa (13-8) jumped to an early lead winning the doubles point, 2-1. The Aztec pair of Katja Karrento and Katey Becker saved a Tulsa sweep of doubles with a, 8-4, win at No. 3. The Aztecs quickly tied the competition at a point apiece with a Lindsey Hedberg victory over Bianca Posada at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Hedberg's win was her fifth straight at No. 1. The Golden Hurricane would regain the lead with a win at the No. 2 singles spot but a sweep of the remainder of singles play, sparked by a Whitney Wells' victory at No. 3, would give the Aztecs the win. SDSU looks to keep its streak alive as it closes out the regular season with a noon match Sunday versus Oregon at the SDSU Courts.
