Rams Earn 5-2 Win Over Miners CSU's Emily Kirchem, Anne Andersen, Carla Pallares and Alexandra Paganetti all claim straight-set wins in singles play.
April 8, 2005 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over UTEP Friday afternoon at Rolland Moore Park in Fort Collins. The Rams claimed the doubles point by winning a decisive 8-3 decision at the No. 2 position and narrowly defeating UTEP at the No. 1 spot 9-7. CSU's Emily Kirchem, Anne Andersen, Carla Pallares and Alexandra Paganetti all claimed straight-set wins in singles play while Dasha Zhurin lost at No. 1 singles in two sets and Jessica Jones fell in a third-set tie breaker. "I felt everyone played hard against a good team today," commented head coach Jon Messick. "We played through some injuries, kept a positive attitude and did what needed to be done. I am very proud of them." The Rams improve to 12-5 on the season and will face UNLV Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Rolland Moore Raquet Complex.
