Nov. 11, 2009
By Tawny Dennis FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State softball Head Coach Mary Yori announced the signings of seven players to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Three of the signees hail from California, while two join the Rams from Arizona. The Rams also signed top players from Nebraska and Oregon. Within the signing class are four infielders, two outfielders and one catcher. "I am extremely excited about each of these athletes and what they will add to the continued success of Ram softball," said Yori. "This is an exceptional class of athletes." Kendal Butterfield, Julie Lewis and Cassy Mosser are from California. Butterfield is an infielder/outfielder from Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, Calif., Lewis is a corner infielder from Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, Calif., and Mosser is a middle infielder from California High School in Danville, Calif. Morghan Doughty is an outfielder from Tucson, Ariz., and Emily Pohl is a catcher from Vail, Ariz. Doughty and Pohl are high school teammates at Cienega High School in Vail, Ariz. Alysa Greckel is a middle infielder from Millard West High School in Omaha, Neb., and Chelsea Biglow is a corner infielder from Tigard High School in Tigard, Ore. "This group of athletes will add a great deal of athleticism to our roster, as they each possess outstanding tools at their defensive position, as well as the potential to be offensive weapons in our lineup," added Yori. "These seven young women each bring very high academic credentials with them, as well. I believe they bring the kind of character and athletic ability to fit nicely into the culture of our program here at Colorado State."
