PROVO, Utah - As the new Brigham Young softball coach, Gordon Eakin will join all other college coaches in making recruiting a priority.

But unlike his colleagues, he also might want to add "re-recruiting" to the list of duties.

Eakin, who was named BYU's coach Tuesday, may have to win over some players he has coached the last three years as a BYU assistant coach. BYU's season ended in disarray two months ago, culminating with several players complaining about coach Mary Kay Amicone.

A few weeks later, the administration forced out the coach it hired to start the program three years ago. Star player Oli Keohohou had problems with Amicone and intended to transfer.
