SALT LAKE CITY - The Mountain West Conference honored three University of Utah softball student-athletes by awarding them the league's 2005-06 Scholar Athlete Award.

Among the 54 Utah student-athletes recognized were softball players Staci Hemingway (Jr., 3.96, sports management), Kelly Matthews (So., 3.58, mass communication) and Meghan Crouse (So., 3.64, mass communication).

A total of 535 student-athletes league-wide were named Mountain West Conference Scholar Athletes for 2005-06. To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition for their athletic team.
