NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN

(8) COLORADO STATE at (1) #1 Arizona

Date/Time: Thursday, May 15/11:30 a.m.

All-Time Series: Arizona leads 19-0.

Tournament Notes:

* Colorado State will be making its second appearance in the NCAA Regionals. This is the first appearance for the Rams as members of the Mountain West.

* CSU's first appearance in the NCAA Regionals was in 1997. They notched wins over Brown and UMass, before falling to UMass twice.

* Colorado State has played four of the other 63 teams in the NCAA Regionals this season. The Rams are 4-4 against those four teams, going 1-0 against Missouri and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 0-1 against Mississippi State and 2-3 against San Diego State.

* The Rams won their first-ever MWC Tournament title after being picked to finish sixth in the preseason coaches' poll.

Tournament Notes:

* San Diego State received an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals for the second time in three years.

* The 2001 team was the first to receive a bid to the NCAA Regionals in school history. They finished the tournament 3-2, advancing to the regional final before falling to eventual NCAA runner-up UCLA, 11-0.

* The Aztecs are 12-12 against teams in this year's tournament and 1-0 against teams in its region of the tournament. SDSU defeated Oregon, 1-0, on Feb. 16 at the Campbell/Cartier Classic in Poway, Calif.

* Some notable wins against teams in the tournament are a 2-0 win over Stanford (Region 8), a 2-1 win over Michigan (Region 7) and a 2-1 win over Michigan State (Region 2).
