COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State will host the 2005 Mountain West Conference Softball Championship May 12-14 at SDSU Softball Stadium in San Diego, Calif. This will mark the second time in three years that the event will be held in San Diego, and the first time it will be held in San Diego State's new softball facility. The stadium, which opened earlier this season, is located on the northwest side of the San Diego State campus and has a seating capacity of 1,000.

Regular-season champion BYU earned the No. 1 seed in this year's tournament, followed by UNLV with the No. 2 seed and Colorado State with the 3rd seed. Utah is the fourth seed, followed by New Mexico and San Diego with the fifth and sixth seed, respectively.

The winner of the Mountain West Conference Tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
