COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference Softball Championship will take place May 8-10 at SDSU Field on the campus of San Diego State. The opening game will see 3rd-seeded BYU taking on 6th-seeded UNLV at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 8. No. 4 Utah and No. 5 New Mexico will be the other opening round match on Thursday. San Diego State and Colorado State will receive opening round byes. The Rams will play the winner of BYU and UNLV at 2 p.m. on Thursday, while the Aztecs will go against the winner of Utah and New Mexico Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

The Mountain West Conference Softball Championship game will be on Saturday, May 10, with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the 2003 NCAA Softball Championship.
