COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Second-place BYU at Utah highlights the final weekend of conference play for MWC institutions. The Cougars take on the Utes on Sat., May 3 at noon. In other conference action, New Mexico takes on Colorado State on Wednesday, while first-place San Diego State does battle with the Rams and UNLV takes on the Lobos on Friday. Sunday's action will see the Aztecs at the Lobos and the Rebels at Colorado State. BYU and Utah start the week off with non-conference games. MWC institutions have won 111 games against non-conference competition this season.
The 2003 Mountain West Conference Softball Championship will take place May 8-10 at SDSU Field in San Diego.

BYU
BYU is eighth in the nation in scoring (256 runs, 5.82 per game) and No. 11 in batting average (.305).
Junior outfielder Oli Keohohou is second in the nation in home runs (19), 14th in RBI (44) and 15th in batting average (.445). She also has riding an the longest hitting streak in the MWC this season at 20 games.
COLORADO STATE
Colorado State is currently in third place in the conference with an 8-6 record.
Junior pitcher Megan Masser is seventh in the nation in saves (6).
Junior first baseman Ricki Walker leads the Rams with a .359 batting average.
CSU has hit nine home runs over the last six games, almost doubling its previous season total of five on the season. The Rams have hit 14 total homers this season, which ranks fifth all-time in school history.
Colorado State's 29 wins this season is its highest win total since 1998. They are one win away from moving into fifth-place on the all-time Ram list for wins in a season.
NEW MEXICO
Senior outfielder Kelly Glass is currently hitting .367 with runners in scoring position.
Freshman infielder Ashley VanBoxmeer leads the Lobos with a .358 batting average, a .649 slugging percentage, 31 RBI, 34 runs scored and is second in hits with 54.
SAN DIEGO STATE
The Aztecs' school record 13-game winning streak was snapped last weekend against UNLV. The first-place Aztecs are now 10-1 in conference play this season.
The Aztecs' 15 losses so far this year puts them on pace for the fewest defeats in a season in program history (min. 30 game season). The previous record is 20 by the 1991 team (26-20-1).
The SDSU pitching staff broke the team record for strikeouts in a season in the second game against Centenary College, with 271. The previous mark was 266 set by the 2001 squad. The Aztecs' pitching staff currently has 288 strikeouts this year.
UNLV
Sophomore pitcher Jackie Kerrigan pitched a complete game shutout against league leader San Diego State last weekend. It was the first loss for the Aztecs in MWC play this season and also was the first time they have been shutout in league play this season.
UTAH
Senior infielder Niki Hayhurst leads the Utes with a .364 batting average and a .493 on base percentage.
