COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV infielder Morgan Bostwick and San Diego State righthander Bre DeSanta have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

In four games last week, Bostwick batted 6-for-12 (.500) from the plate, with two home runs, a double, four RBI and four runs scored, leading UNLV to its first two conference doubleheader sweeps as members of the MWC. The Salem, Ore., product, started the week off going 4-for-5, with a home run, a double, one RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader against New Mexico. Bostwick scored the game winning run for the Rebels in the seventh inning of game one after reaching base with a one-out single. In game two she led off the second inning with a solo home run, giving UNLV a lead that it would maintain for the rest of the game. Bostwick continued her hot streak against Colorado State, going 2-for-4 from the dish, with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in the first game of the doubleheader. In the fifth inning, she reached base with a two-out single and scored on the next hit to give the Rebels a 5-3 lead. She followed that up with a three run homer in the seventh to put the game out of reach as UNLV beat the Rams, 10-4. On the season, Bostwick is batting .290 with four home runs and 19 RBI.

DeSanta, a Scottsdale, Ariz., native, claimed her fifth pitcher of the week award of the season going 4-0 (four complete games and two shutouts) in four appearances on the week for SDSU. In 28.0 innings on the mound, she struck out 10, while walking three and giving up four runs (three earned). Her strongest outing of the week came in game two against Colorado State, where she gave up only two hits and walked one in the Aztecs 1-0 victory. In SDSU's first game against New Mexico, DeSanta struck out three, while giving up four hits on the way to her third complete game victory of the week. She concluded the week with a five-hit, four strikeout performance in the Aztecs 2-0 win over the Lobos. DeSanta is 16-8 on the season (8-0 in MWC play), with a 1.08 ERA. Her 42 appearances and 134 strikeouts are currently third on the Aztecs season-high list. DeSanta also is currently tied for fifth place in the nation in saves, with six.
