COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State (32-19-0, 11-3-0) maintains its lead over the MWC heading into this weekend's slate of games. The Aztecs will play two against UNLV on Saturday before returning home for a non-conference game against Louisiana Tech. Four other conference games are scheduled for the weekend, while BYU and Utah each play a non-conference series.

MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE QUICK HITS

BYU

  • BYU is currently 11th in the nation in scoring (5.63 runs per game) and 13th in batting average (.311).
  • Freshman Paige Paramore leads BYU with a .369 batting average and is currently on a 12-game hitting streak.

    COLORADO STATE

  • Junior lead-off hitter Stephanie Roberts set the single-season record for walks at Colorado State, reaching on three free passes against UNLV on Friday. Roberts now has 25 walks on the season.
  • In the Rams' 15-0 victory over UNLV on Friday, the team set conference records for runs (15), total bases (32), and RBI (15), and tied the record for home runs (5). The 15 runs scored by CSU was the highest run total by a Ram team since the 2000 squad defeated Centenary, 15-0.
  • With three wins over the weekend, Colorado State head coach Mary Yori now sits just one victory shy of 100 for her career at CSU.
  • The Ram's have gone 71 straight games without being shutout.

    NEW MEXICO

  • The Lobos went 2-2 last weekend, sweeping their first conference doubleheader of the season over UNLV. Freshman Robyn Hutson led UNM against UNLV, going 3-for-5 with a double, four RBI and a run scored over the two games. Sophomore Stephanie Kennedy also hit .600 with a run scored and a RBI. Sophomore pitcher Iraina Ogas tossed a four-hit complete game in game one against the Rebels, while senior Amy Dumas threw a five-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in game two.
  • Dumas now holds UNM career records in appearances (146), games started (96), innings pitched (638) and strikeouts (435). Her win last weekend moved her into a tie for third in career wins (45) and the shutout gave her sole possession of second in career shutouts with 18. She needs just one more to tie that record. The complete game moved her into fifth in the career books with 44.
  • Of the Lobos last four losses, UNM has held the lead or was tied heading into the fifth inning in three of them. The Lobos toughest loss was to San Diego State, as they held a 4-2 lead with one out in the seventh before committing three errors and losing, 7-4. New Mexico was also tied 0-0 before going into the seventh against Utah before giving up a game-winning home run.

    SAN DIEGO STATE

  • Senior center fielder Janna Kovensky took sole possession of first place on the all-time SDSU run scoring charts in game one versus Colorado State last weekend. Kovensky has scored 128 runs in her Aztec career, surpassing Kellie Nordhagen's (1999-2002) total of 126.
  • SDSU's game one victory over New Mexico was the team's largest comeback win of the season, marking the first time the Aztecs has comeback from a deficit of three or more runs this year.
  • Sophomore Bree Boyer and juniors Lacey Craft and Brittany Green hit their first career home runs as Aztecs last weekend.
  • Sophomore catcher Jamie Burton recorded her first career hit in game two against New Mexico on Friday.
  • The Aztecs twice tied their season-high for runs in an inning on Friday, plating five runs in the seventh inning of game one and five more in game two's fourth inning.
  • San Diego State's 10-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday in Colorado State's 2-1 game two victory. The last seven regular season games between the Aztecs and Rams have been decided by one run with SDSU claiming five of the wins.

    UNLV

  • UNLV has lost eight straight conference games.
  • The Rebels have committed just one error in their last four outings.
  • UNLV does not hit the road again in the regular season. It finishes with a six-game homestand.

    UTAH

  • Senior Glennis Donnelly is seventh in the nation in home runs (seven), tied for seventh in doubles (16), eighth in slugging percentage (.825%), 23rd in RBI (38) and 46th in batting average (.401).
