COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West will begin the second half of its conference season with two softball telecasts on Friday, April 27. The race for the league title continues on CSTV at 6 p.m. MT with BYU hosting Utah. The Mtn. will continue coverage of MWC softball with its double-header between New Mexico and San Diego State in San Diego, Calif., at 8 p.m. MT.

BYU leads the way in the conference season, boasting an 8-2 league record (31-16 overall). The Cougars are currently riding an 11-game winning streak. Utah, last year's MWC tournament champion, stands in sixth place with a 2-8 conference record (22-20 overall). The teams have met 33 times, with the Cougars holding a slight advantage, 19-14. Last year the teams split the regular season, winning two games apiece.

New Mexico (15-17, 4-3 MWC) and San Diego State (27-19, 3-7 MWC) will face each other for the 72nd time on Friday. San Diego State holds a 45-26 advantage over the Lobos. The Aztecs, last year's MWC regular-season champion, also won all four regular-season contest last year.

The 2007 softball broadcast schedule includes an unprecedented 11 games on national and regional television. The MountainWest Sports Network - The Mtn., will show seven games, while four games will be broadcast live nationally on CSTV. San Diego State, the 2006 regular-season champion and NCAA Tournament participant, will be featured four times this season. BYU and Utah, who also made postseason appearances in 2006, will have a combined six contests televised.
