COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah shortstop Melissa Stahnke and San Diego State right-handed pitcher Sandra Durazo are the Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. This is the second player of the week honor for Stahnke this season and the fourth pitcher of the week award for Durazo.

Stahnke, a freshman from Ridgefield, Wash. (Ridgefield HS), hit .353 (6-for-17) with nine RBI, six runs scored, three home runs, and a double in six games last week. The Utes swept Southern Utah (5-2, 9-0) and Colorado State (5-1, 9-1), while splitting with New Mexico (1-2, 9-1). Stahnke went 2-for-7 with a double and an RBI in the two games vs. Southern Utah, while batting .500 (2-for-4) with three RBI and a home run in the Colorado State series. Stahnke concluded the week going 2-for-6 at the plate vs. New Mexico with both hits resulting in home runs and five RBI. The two round-trippers vs. the Lobos helped Stahnke set a new Utah single-season home run record with 19 on the year.

Durazo, a senior from Granada Hills, Calif. (Kennedy HS), went 2-0 for the week, pitching 17.0 scoreless innings and not issuing a walk, while striking out 20 batters in two, one-run victories over UNLV (1-0) and UC Riverside (2-1). Durazo pitched her 18th career shutout vs. the Rebels, scattering six hits while striking out seven. Against UC Riverside, she struck out a career-high 13 and allowed just three hits in her 10 innings of relief. The victory over UC Riverside was also the 75th of her career. Opponents batted .153 against her for the week, with no extra base hits in 59 at bats. Durazo has not issued a walk in her last three appearances, covering a span of 22.0 innings. On the year, Durazo is 18-10 with a 1.52 ERA.
