COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico sophomore Analise Rubalcava and BYU freshman Christie Zinanti have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Rubalcava started three games hitting, .625 in eight at-bats last week to help the Lobos open conference play with a 2-1 record. She went 3-for-3 against league-leading UNLV with two runs scored and four RBI. The Chandler, Ariz., native hit her third homerun of the year and had an RBI double against the Rebels. Against San Diego State, Rubalcava went 2-for-5, scoring twice and collecting an RBI. She went 1-for-2 on Sunday with two walks and a clutch RBI-single in the sixth inning to help lift New Mexico past the Aztecs. Defensively, the third-baseman made seven putouts and had eight assists without committing an error. She currently ranks seventh in the league for on-base percentage at .447 and tenth for fielding percentage at .987.

Zinanti, hailing from Pueblo, Colo., did her part in BYU's first-ever combined no-hitter against UVSC last week. She pitched one inning, retiring the side in order and recording one strikeout. Zinanti then secured the shutout victory against Utah, allowing three hits and putting away 19 of the 25 batters she faced. She denied the Utes a single hit after the third inning in that game. Zinanti sits at sixth in the league for earned run average at 2.37 and fifth for opposing batting average at .237. Her eight wins ties her at sixth in the MWC.

This marks the first weekly MWC awards for both Rubalcava and Zinanti.
