Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week BYU's Keohohou and San Diego State's DeSanta take home conference honors.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU sophomore outfielder Oli Keohohou and San Diego State freshman righthander Bre DeSanta have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Keohohou earned her second player of the week award of the season and fourth of her career going 6-for-9 (.667) from the plate, with two home runs, three doubles and seven RBI in four games last week for the Cougars. The Newbury, Calif. native had a hit in every game starting with her best performance of the week in game one of a doubleheader against Utah State. Keohohou went 2-for-2 from the dish and smashed a seventh-inning grand slam, powering the Cougars to a 7-3 victory. She finished the game with five RBI and one run scored while drawing three walks. In BYU's, 3-2, game two win over the Aggies, she went 2-for-3, with an RBI, and scored the winning run off an error by the pitcher. In a conference doubleheader against Utah, she went 2-for-4, with a home run in game two, an RBI and three runs scored while drawing five walks. The All-American currently leads the MWC in batting average (.442), slugging percentage (.962), home runs (16), on-base percentage (.642), runs scored (48), RBI (42), walks (59) and total bases (100).
DeSanta appeared in three games for the Aztecs last week, bringing home a 2-0 record (both complete games) and a save. In 16.0 innings of work, she gave up 19 hits, five runs (three earned) and struck out 10 while walking none. In game two against New Mexico, she gave up 10 hits and two earned runs, helping the Aztecs to a 10-4 win. DeSanta's best performance of the week came in San Diego State's, 3-1, win over Colorado State in game one of its doubleheader. The Scottsdale, Ariz. product scattered five hits, struck out six and gave up a run in the SDSU victory. She capped the week pitching two innings of relief in game two against the Rams, to preserve the Aztecs 4-1 win. DeSanta currently leads the MWC in ERA (1.11), opposing batting average (.210), wins (12), saves (6-4th in the nation), appearances (37), games finished (20) and games finished in relief (20). This is her fourth pitcher of the week award this season.
