COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV redshirt freshman Jaci Hull and San Diego State sophomore righthander Melissa Owens have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Hull, from Scottsdale, Ariz., led the Rebels this past weekend at the Pacific Mini Tournament in hitting percentage (.528), runs (4), hits (7), doubles (4), home runs (2), total bases (17), slugging percentage (1.308), walks (2) and on-base percentage (.600). Against Sacramento State, Hull was responsible for all three runs that UNLV scored in the 3-0 victory. At the plate, she was 4-for-4 with three doubles, one RBI and two runs scored. In the second game vs. Sacramento State, she went 2-for-3 at the plate with two solo home runs, two RBI and two runs scored. Hull stepped up to the plate with two out in the fifth and cut the Hornets lead in half at 2-1. With the score knotted at 2-2, Hull came up for the second time with two outs and promptly placed the offering over the fence for a 3-2 UNLV lead.

Owens, a San Diego, Calif., native, went 1-0 with a 0.44 ERA to help the Aztecs to a 3-1 record last week. She struck out 20 batters and walked four over 16 innings, while limiting her opponents to a .123 batting average. Owens tossed a three-hit shutout in SDSU's 1-0 win over No. 20 Georgia Tech in the second game of a doubleheader. The three hits, all singles, came against a team who came into the day with a .333 team batting average and 42 home runs. She also allowed just one hit in four innings of relief in the Aztecs' 5-4 loss to Ohio State on Saturday, while striking out six and walking one.
