New Mexico's Keene and Dumas Named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Respectively Keene garners honor for first time this season.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico outfielder Krissy Keene and right-handed pitcher Amy Dumas are the Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. This is the first player of the week honor for Keene this season and the second pitcher of the week in a row for Dumas. Keene, a senior from Westminster, Calif. (Westminster HS), hit .550 (11-for-20) with seven RBI, eight runs scored, a triple and a home run in seven games last week. She recorded multiple-hits in six of the eight contests, and did not strikeout in 20 at-bats. In the first game of the double-header at New Mexico State last Wednesday, Keene went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored in the 7-2 victory. In the top of the third inning, she hit her second home run of the season to put the Lobos up 3-0. On Friday, Keene began the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tournament a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple and an RBI in the 11-2 win over Brown. In five total games at the tournament, Keene tallied six runs, four RBI, and a triple, while going 7-for-13 (.539) at the plate. Dumas, a freshman from Farmington, N.M. (Farmington HS), recorded three complete games this past week for New Mexico. In 19 innings of work she faced 73 batters, allowing 12 hits and three unearned runs, while walking four and striking out 12. In the 7-2 victory at New Mexico State, Dumas scattered eight hits and allowed two unearned runs, while striking out six and walking just one. The Lobos cruised past host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 11-1, on Saturday in five innings. Dumas gave up three hits and an unearned run, while walking and striking out two. In the championship game of the tournament, Dumas led New Mexico to a 4-0 shutout over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She faced 24 batters and allowed just one hit, while striking out four.
Dumas has won 11 straight contests dating back to a 3-0 loss to Nebraska on Feb. 24. She is now 12-2 on the year with a 0.70 ERA.
