COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico freshman third baseman Analise Rubalcava and junior righthander Caley Peterson have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Rubalcava, from Chandler, Ariz., played an integral part in New Mexico's offense over the weekend in the doubleheader against in-state rival New Mexico State. She had a .750 batting average overall and went 6-for-8 with one double, a season first home run and five RBI. In the first game of the doubleheader, Rubalcava went 4-for-5 with three RBI and hit her season first home run. She also drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with a single to left center to give the Lobos the 9-8 victory. In the second game, Rubalcava went 2-for-3 and had two RBI. She is currently on an eight-game hitting streak.

Peterson, a Eugene, Ore., native, took both wins in the doubleheader against New Mexico State last weekend, improving her overall record to 3-2. Peterson also earned first career shutout with the Lobos in the 8-0 win over the Aggies in the second game of the doubleheader. Peterson allowed only five hits over the weekend and no runs. She also struck out six and recorded only one walk in 23 batters faced. Peterson leads the New Mexico pitching staff with a 3.50 ERA.
