THIS WEEK
Four of six MWC teams will see tournament action this week, with BYU (10-4), San Diego State (9-3) and UNLV (6-5) facing top-25 opponents. The Cougars travel to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M Invitational, where they face the host, #8 Texas A&M. San Diego State will be hosting the Aztec Classic, which includes #22 Oregon and #23 Fresno State. UNLV will host the UNLV Invitational and face #16 Arizona State. Colorado State (12-4) is also hosting their own tournament, the CSU Spring Tournament, where it will face Utah State and Wisconsin-Green Bay. New Mexico (5-12) hosts Utah Valley State for a double-header, while Utah (8-5) will take the week off. Overall the MWC is 51-35 in non-conference play entering its fourth week of competition.

BYU
BYU's (10-4) Summer Tobias pitched her second complete-game shutout in the Cougars' 1-0 victory over Texas State...Freshman Andrea Ramirez leads BYU's experienced line-up in batting after three weeks with a .400 batting average...The Cougars fifth game of the weekend was cancelled due to rain on Saturday...BYU will face its first ranked opponent next week, #8 Texas A&M, at the Texas A&M Invitational.

COLORADO STATE
At 12-4, the 2006 team has matched the best start in school history through 16 games...The 1989 squad also posted a 12-4 record to start the season, and eventually reached 27-4 before losing its fifth game of the season...The Colorado State pitching staff led the Rams to a 5-0 showing at the SDSU Aztec Invitational, holding opponents to a .193 batting average and posting a .000 ERA as a staff...Junior Jessica Strickland and freshmen Kim Klabough and MaryBeth Culp did not allow an earned run in the tournament and combined for 27 strikeouts in 35 innings...Through 16 games this season, the Colorado State softball team has stolen 16 bases in 20 attempts, matching the 2005 squad's entire season output (16-for-25)...Last weekend at the Aztec Invitational, the Rams stole eight bases in nine attempts...Senior Tara Harbert leads the Rams with a perfect 11-for-11 mark on the season.

NEW MEXICO
The Lobos are now 5-12 on the season and have a win streak of three games as they open their home schedule this weekend against Utah Valley State...Three Lobos are already in the double digits for RBIs through 17 games including, Kristina Schmallen (18), Lindsey Elcess (16) and freshman Samantha Hughes (10)...The Lobos defense looked good over the weekend as they turned four double plays in five games.

SAN DIEGO STATE
SDSU has scored first in 11 of its 12 games this season...In the Aztecs' nine wins this year, they have outscored their opponents, 64-11...SDSU reached double-figures (10) in hits against Indiana State for the fourth time this season...The Aztecs have clubbed 11 homeruns through 12 games...Their single-season record is 19, set by the 1999 squad...SDSU's three losses have been by one run each.

UNLV
The UNLV Invitational is on deck for March 2-5...Christie Robinson tossed a three-hitter against Ohio State to close out the Palm Springs Classic for UNLV...On the weekend she held a 0.89 ERA in 15.2 innings pitched, struck out 14 and walked only three...Brittany Freight hit .333 this past weekend in Palm Springs with five hits in 15 at bats...Once on the base paths she was 3-for-3 in the stolen base department...Maggie Livreri has walked 11 times this season...In 2005, she walked 29 times...Those 29 walks were good enough for fifth-place in the UNLV record book for walks in a single-season.

UTAH
Meghan Dyer threw only the seventh perfect game in Utah history...She didn't allow any of the 18 batters faced to reach base in the 8-0, six-inning victory over UTEP on Feb. 25...She also struck out a career-high 11 batters in the record-setting performance...Diana Phillips saw her career-high 12-game hitting streak come to an end in the final game of the UTEP Invitational...Phillips went into the weekend with a hit in each of the first nine games of the season...Jackie Wong leads the team in hits (21) and is collecting hits at a .457 clip while Phillips is second in hitting at .409...Last weekend, Utah out-scored its opponents 22-2 and out-hit them, 42-10...For the year, opponents are hitting .239 against Utah.
