COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah senior second baseman Jackie Wong and junior righthander Meghan Dyer have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Wong, from Antioch, Calif., led the Utes in hitting last weekend. She belted 10 hits in 14 at bats (.714) and currently owns a four-game hitting streak. With that effort, her season batting average jumped from .344 to its current .457. She had two extra-base hits last week, as well, tying her for the team lead for extra-base hits this season (5). Wong also led the team with a .733 on-base percentage and .a 929 slugging percentage. She belted her second triple of the season against New Mexico State last weekend. She now has four career triples to her credit. In the final game of the weekend, she went 4-for-4 with a run scored to go along with plating the game-winning RBI. In the bottom of the seventh inning against NMSU, she hit a bounding ball to right-center field, allowing the game-winning run to score from second.

Dyer, a Tracy, Calif., native, won all three games she appeared in, including throwing a perfect game against UTEP. She threw all six innings of the 8-0 shutout and didn't allow a runner to reach base. She struck out a career-high 11 batters, facing the bare minimum of 18. It is only the seventh perfect game in Utah history, the last being in 1997 (Ali Andrus-Sagus vs. Tulsa). Dyer hasn't allowed a hit in her last eight innings of work. She threw the first three innings of the 8-0 shutout over SJSU, allowing only three hits and three walks. Dyer came on in the fifth inning of the NMSU game, leading the team to a 2-1, last-inning victory. She also fanned three of the seven batters faced in that game to hold NMSU at bay.
