SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Pauline Glenn's two-out, three-run home run in the top of the seventh helped UNLV overcome a one-run deficit in its final at-bat as the No. 6 seed Rebels defeated the No. 5 seed New Mexico Lobos, 3-1, Friday at SDSU Field. With the win, the Rebels moved to 21-38 overall, while the Lobos were eliminated from the Mountain West Conference championships and finish their season with a 25-37-1 record.

Both schools had an opportunity to score early as UNLV had the bases loaded in the second inning, but were unable to push across a run when catcher Carly Petracco struck out swinging to end the threat. In the bottom half of the second, the Lobos had runners on second and third with one out, before Rebel pitcher Jackie Kerrigan got Kelly Glass to ground into a force out at the plate and Stephanie Kennedy to foul out to left field.

After three and a half more scoreless innings, the Lobos notched what would turn out to be their first and only run of the contest when Ora Hensley scored on a two-out RBI single by Jamar Bynum.

With one out in the top of the seventh, UNLV's Kacey Ellis singled to center field to start the rally. After a strikeout, Kerrigan helped her own cause by extending the inning with a single of her own to put runners at first and second. Glenn then took New Mexico pitcher Amy Dumas' 0-1 offering just over the fence in center field to put the Rebels up for good, 3-1.

The Lobos were unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning, going down in order. Kerrigan earned her 16th win of the season with a complete game effort to move to 16-15 overall, while Dumas fell to 14-16 in 2003, despite allowing just one hit through the first six and one-third innings.

UNLV now moves on to face No. 2 seed Colorado State approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Utah-Brigham Young game, which started at 1 p.m. PDT.
