April 20, 2005 PROVO, Utah - Cougar softball extended its winning steak to seven games, defeating Southern Utah 19-3 and 11-1 Wednesday at Gail Miller Field. In game one, BYU came out swinging, literally, scoring nine runs in each of the first two innings. Cougar players were getting hits from the top of the lineup to the bottom including a 4-for-4 performance by Lauren Watson-Perry, 3-for-4 by Paige Paramore, 2-for-2 by Krystle Chamberlain, 3-for-3 by Neta Le`I, 2-for-3 by Jodi Norton, 3-for-4 by Debbie Dodds, and 2-for-4 by Daniella Urincho. After all was said and done, BYU finished off the Thunderbirds with 19 runs on 21 hits in five innings. Urincho goes to a 8-2 pitching record. Game two started out much the same as the first with BYU getting four runs on four hits in the first inning and jumped out to a 7-1 lead after three. The Cougars really put the game away in the fourth as Urincho was at the plate with two runners on homered on the first pitch she saw increasing the lead 10-1. Lindi Kennedy liked what she saw and wanted some of that too. Being the next at-bat, Kennedy took one long, her second of the year to put the Cougars us 11-1. Brooke Boyce got the win going to 8-3.
BYU goes to 32-9, 9-1 MWC with a pair of double-headers at home against San Diego State Friday, April 22 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 23 against UNLV at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
