PROVO, Utah -- In exciting fashion, BYU swept New Mexico 4-1, 7-6 in Saturday's double-header at Gail Miller Field.

In the early game, the Cougars and Lobos were scoreless through three and a half. BYU finally took a 1-0 lead off a Paige Paramore double that drove in Krystle Chamberlain from second base. The Lobos tied it up in the sixth, but a three run sixth for BYU put the game out of reach and gave Summer Tobias, who pitched a complete game, her 14th win on the season.

Game two started out all New Mexico as the Lobos took a 0-3 lead through two innings. In the third, BYU fought back once again tying the game 3-3 that included a two-run home run by Neta Le'I, her seventh on the year. BYU then began to struggle defensively committing four errors in the game allowing New Mexico to take a 3-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Showing heart, the Cougars rallied, coupled with some Lobo errors, and tied the game at six forcing extra innings.

After holding New Mexico scoreless in the eighth, BYU's Chamberlain walked from a full count and eventually stole second base. Le'I , with a 3-1 count, then singled up the middle driving in Chamberlain for the winning score.
