Nov. 20, 2003

PROVO, Utah - Soccer Buzz Magazine named BYU senior Aleisha Rose as one of the 15 finalists for the publications Player of the Year honor on Thursday.

Rose, a three-time All-American, was named to the list after leading the Cougars back to the Sweet 16 for the second time in her career and the third time in the program's nine-year history.

Earlier this month the Cougar midfielder was also named a semifinalist for soccer's highest prize, the Hermann Trophy (the sport's Heisman). Again, Rose is among 15 other athletes on the ballot for that award.

The winner of the eighth Soccer Buzz Player of the Year award will be decided by a vote from all Division I coaches as well as the publication's staff, with the winner being announced on December 1.

This week Rose and the Cougars head to Pennsylvania where they will face the 15th-ranked Wildcats of Villanova on Saturday, Nov. 22 at noon (EST) in the third round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championships.
