LAS VEGAS - Penalty kicks might not be a wise topic of conversation to bring up around Rebel soccer players for the next few weeks.

The UNLV men's and women's teams both were eliminated from their league tournaments earlier this month on penalty kicks. As a result, neither team will advance to see NCAA postseason action.

Though the players may feel the sting for a while, men's coach Barry Barto and women's coach Dan Abdalla are viewing the 2002 season as a success.

Barto, who started the year anticipating a rebuilding season, said his team surpassed all his preseason expectations. The Rebels finished at 12-8, their best record since 1987.
