COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV claimed its second outright regular-season Mountain West Conference women's soccer title with a 1-0 double-overtime win over BYU on Nov. 2. The victory over the Cougars also earned the Rebels (10-4-5 overall, 5-1-1 MWC) the No. 1 seed in this week's MWC Women's Soccer Championship in Provo, Utah.

San Diego State finished in second place with a 9-7-3 overall and 4-2-1 league record. BYU (14-3-2 overall, 4-3-0 MWC) and Wyoming (9-9-0 overall, 4-3-0) tied for third place in the standings, but the Cougars will get the third seed by virtue of a tiebreaker after defeating the Cowgirls 1-0 earlier in the season. Utah (11-4-4 overall, 3-2-2 MWC) and TCU (8-10-0 overall, 3-4-0 MWC) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

The conference tournament will take place Nov. 7-10 at South Stadium on the campus of BYU in Provo, Utah. The opening match will see No. 4 Wyoming vs. No. 5 Utah at 1 p.m. MT on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The other Wednesday match will include No. 3 seed BYU vs. No. 6 seed TCU at 4 p.m. MT. No. 1 seed UNLV and No. 2 seed San Diego State will have first-round byes and will play in the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 8. The Rebels will face the winner of the No. 4 Wyoming/No. 5 Utah match at 1 p.m. MT, while the Aztecs will play the winner of the No. 3 BYU/No. 6 TCU game at 4 p.m. MT.

The Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Championship title match is slated for 1 p.m. MT on Saturday, Nov. 10, with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the 2007 NCAA Women's College Cup. The MWC Women's Soccer Championship semifinal games will be televised live at 1 and 4 p.m. MT on The Mtn. Saturday's championship game will also be aired via same-day tape delay on The Mtn. at 5 p.m. MT, and nationally on CSTV Sunday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. MT. The match will also be streamed live on the CSTV (www.cstv.com) and Mountain West (www.TheMWC.com) Web sites.
