COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2009 Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Championship will be held November 4-7, at South Field on the campus of BYU in Provo, Utah. The first rounds will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 4, with No. 3 Utah facing No. 6 TCU at noon MT, and No. 4 New Mexico taking on No. 5 Wyoming at 3 p.m. MT. Thursday's semifinals will be at noon MT and 3 p.m. MT, with the championship game taking place on Saturday, Nov. 7 at noon MT.

BYU will be the No. 1 seed in this week's tournament. The Cougars finished first in the regular season with a 6-0-1 league record (16-2-2 overall). BYU has been the No. 1 seed in the MWC Tournament four times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2008) and has won the championship title in each of those four years.

San Diego State (12-3-5, 5-0-2 MWC) will be the No. 2 seed, marking its highest seed in the MWC Tournament since earning the No. 1 spot in 1999. The Aztecs, along with the Cougars, will receive a bye into the Thursday's semifinal round. Three different MWC institutions have won the postseason championship in its 10-year history, with the No. 1 seed winning the crown five times. BYU leads the way with six titles, followed by Utah and UNLV with two apiece.

The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network will air Thursday's semifinals live at noon and 3 p.m. MT. The championship game, scheduled for noon MT on Saturday, Nov. 7, will be streamed live on The Mtn.'s Web site (www.themtn.tv) and air on the linear network via same-day tape delay at midnight MT. It will also be re-broadcast at 2 p.m. MT on Sunday, Nov. 8. The tandem of Bill Riley and Mark Rogondino will call all games on Nov. 5 and 7. Marius Payton and Bill Doleman, along with guest analyst Brian Crookham, will also provide a breakdown of Thursday's semifinal games from the studio. Wednesday's first-round games will also be streamed live on BYU's Web site (www.byucougars.com).
