Utah's Kofoed Named MWC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week Senior garners honor for first time this season.
Oct. 29, 2001
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah senior forward Amy Kofoed has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week after helping the Utes improve to 7-0 at home with two conference victories over Wyoming and Air Force last week. This is Kofoed's first weekly honor of the season and third of her career. Kofoed, a product of Layton, Utah, set two Mountain West Conference and Utah single-match records this past week as she scored four goals and added an assist in the Utes 8-2 victory over Wyoming Thursday. Her four goals tied the MWC single-match record with Air Force's Beth Boyer, who netted four goals vs. Weber State on Sept. 7, 2001, while breaking the Utes single-match record of three held by three different players. Kofoed's nine total points vs. the Cowgirls broke Boyer's MWC single-match record of eight set in the Weber State contest, while surpassing Jacki Doman's Ute record of seven set in 1996 vs. Creighton. Utah is 9-5-0 on the year and currently tied for second-place with UNLV in the MWC standings at 3-2. The Utes play at Utah State Thursday prior to a season finale at BYU Saturday in a match that will decide the regular season conference title.
