San Diego State's Klunder and Jouglet recognized nationally for soccer efforts
MWC Women's Soccer players honored by Soccer Buzz and Soccer America
Oct. 21, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore forward Jen Klunder and senior defender Noelle Jouglet, both of San Diego State, have been recognized nationally for their work on the soccer field by Soccer Buzz and Soccer America, respectively, for the week of Oct. 11. Both were honored as Mountain West Conference Players of the Week, Oct. 18. Klunder, a native of La Mirada, Calif., was honored on the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week, Oct. 20. She tallied two game-winning goals in a pair of 1-0 victories against both Wyoming, Oct. 15, and New Mexico in overtime, Oct. 17. Jouglet was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week, Oct. 19. She leads a San Diego State defense that has posted four consecutive shutouts and has gone 477:52 without allowing a goal, the longest streak in program history. The Aztecs last surrendered a goal against Washington, Oct. 3. In addition, Jouglet assisted on Klunder's game-winning goal against Wyoming, Oct. 15. After winning two straight, San Diego State is 5-6-5 overall, 2-0-2 in MWC play. The Aztecs host Air Force, Oct. 21. Two other Mountain West athletes, Chelsea Card and Melissa Wayman of Utah, were honored earlier this year by Soccer America. Card was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week, Sept. 20-26, while Wayman was named Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
