MWC Quick Hits

Air Force (3-10-2, 0-3-1 MWC)

* Air Force tied BYU, 1-1 (2 OT), Oct. 16. It was the first time the Falcons had not lost to the Cougars in nine matches. * Freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Drew recorded a career-best 15 saves against BYU. The total is also the third-best single game total in Air Force history. Drew leads the conference in saves (83). * Air Force travels to San Diego State and UNLV this weekend. The Falcons are 1-6 all-time vs. the Aztecs and 4-5 vs. the Rebels. * Air Force has lost eight of its past 10 matches. The other two matches were ties (1-1 vs. UC Davis, Oct. 1 and 1-1 vs. BYU, Oct. 16). The Falcons' last win came Sept. 10 vs. Jacksonville State.

BYU (5-8-4, 1-0-2 MWC)

* BYU continues its five-game road trip this week with trips to Wyoming (Oct. 21) and New Mexico (Oct. 23). * The Cougars have given up just one goal in three games of conference play but have just one victory to show for it. BYU has scored just two goals itself in MWC play and is 1-0-2 thus far. * Jaime Rendich is tied for first in the conference in total points and total goals, while she ranks second in points per game and goals per game.

New Mexico (5-8-0, 1-2-0 MWC)

* The Lobos host Utah (Oct. 21) and BYU (Oct. 23) this week. New Mexico is 2-5-1 all-time vs. Utah, while the Lobos are 2-8-1 all-time against BYU. * Freshmen Katelyn Ley and Jordan Johnson lead the Lobos with three goals apiece. Sophomore Kristine Sweat leads New Mexico with four assists. * Junior goalkeeper Kristen Winters set the New Mexico record for victories with 20 after the Lobos defeated Air Force, Oct. 10. Winters is also just one shutout shy of tying Melissa Liston for the UNM record with 18. * New Mexico is 4-2-0 when it scores first and is 3-1-0 at the UNM Soccer Complex. * New Mexico's roster features 13 players from the state of New Mexico, the most ever for a Lobos women's soccer team.

San Diego State (5-6-5, 2-0-2 MWC)

* San Diego State is 2-0-2 in the MWC and is off to its best start since the 1999 squad began 3-1. * The Aztec defense has not allowed a goal in 477:52, the longest streak in the program's 16-year history. San Diego State has not given up a goal since losing 1-0 to No. 3 Washington, Oct. 3. * San Diego State goalie Sophia Perez currently has a 0.62 goals against average. The Aztec single season record is 0.61 set by Katherine Judkins in 1998. Perez leads the MWC in shutouts with 8. * Jen Klunder and Noelle Jouglet were honored as the MWC Players of the Week, Oct. 18.

UNLV (10-3-2, 3-1-0 MWC)

* UNLV has won two straight and five of its past six games. * Annii Magliulo scored two goals and added an assist this past weekend as the Rebels defeated New Mexico, 2-1, Oct. 15, and Wyoming, 3-1, Oct. 17. The five points moved her into a tie for first place in career points with 66 (tying Anita Pedford, 1998-2001). * Twelve different Rebels have notched goals in 15 matches this season. * Freshmen Jessica Destito, Erica Frizzell, Katie Carney and Ashley O'Harrow have combined for eight goals, including six game-winning scores, and five assists. * UNLV leads the conference in goals against average (0.77) and in the least number of goals allowed (12) over all games.

Utah (9-4-2, 1-1-1 MWC)

* After being shutout in three straight games (vs. San Diego, UNLV and San Diego State), Utah has won two straight games, outscoring its opponents, 6-1. The Utes defeated Air Force, 4-0, and Utah Valley State, 2-1. * Utah sophomore Amanda Feigt scored two goals in the Utes' two victories this past weekend. She leads the team with five goals and 13 total points this season. * Utah is 5-2 vs. NSCAA/adidas Top 25 teams under coach Rich Manning. The Oct. 1 win vs. UCLA was the Utes' first contest against a ranked team this season. * Utah has posted five shutouts so far in 2004. Sophomore Ashley Mason has three shutouts, while senior Glennis Donnelly has posted two. * Ten players have accounted for at least one goal this season for Utah. Freshman Chelsea Card and sophomore Amanda Feigt each have tallied five goals. Kim Lloyd has a team-best seven assists.

Wyoming (7-5-4, 1-2-0 MWC)

* After playing five of its past six games on the road, Wyoming returns home for three straight conference games to close out the regular season. The Cowgirls are 3-1-2 at home this year. * Junior Mercy Adetoye is currently fourth all-time at Wyoming in career goals with 12 after scoring vs. San Diego State, Oct. 15. She is also tied for second on the career charts in assists with six. * Senior Mari Gomes is second all-time with 16 career goals. Her seven goals in 2004 is the second-most in a single season in Wyoming history. She is third all-time in points with 35. * Wyoming has already played in six overtime games this year, a new Cowgirl record. They are unbeaten in overtime with a record of 2-0-4.
