MWC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
San Diego State's Klunder and Jouglet honored
Oct. 18, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore forward Jen Klunder and senior defender Noelle Jouglet, both of San Diego State, have been named Mountain West Conference Players of the Week for women's soccer. Klunder, who earns offensive player recognition, receives her first career award, while Jouglet earns defensive player honors and her second career accolade. Klunder, a native of La Mirada, Calif., tallied two game-winning goals in a pair of 1-0 victories. The Aztecs defeated Wyoming, Oct. 15, and also knocked off New Mexico in overtime, Oct. 17. Against Wyoming, Klunder scored on a header at the 76:56 mark. Against the Lobos, Klunder scored from five yards out four minutes into overtime. Klunder has now scored three goals this season. Jouglet leads a San Diego State defense that has posted four consecutive shutouts and has gone 477:52 without allowing a goal, the longest streak in program history. The Aztecs last surrendered a goal against Washington, Oct. 3. Against New Mexico, Oct. 17, Jouglet and the Aztec defense limited the Lobos to just three shots on goal. In addition, Jouglet assisted on Klunder's game-winning goal against Wyoming, Oct. 15. After winning two straight, San Diego State is 5-6-5 overall, 2-0-2 in MWC play.
