COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming sophomore forward Mercy Adetoye and senior goalkeeper Lori Scheider have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. They helped the Cowgirls to their first ever 2-0 start in MWC league play, defeating UNLV and San Diego State for the first time in school history. This is the first career weekly honor for both recipients.

Adetoye, a Littleton, Colo., product, came off the bench to score two goals in Wyoming's 3-1 victory over San Diego State last weekend. Her first goal of the match came in the 39th minute from 18 yards out (assisted by Chelsey Anderson), putting Wyoming up 1-0. Adetoye put the match away for the Cowgirls in the 70th minute with a breakaway goal off of a pass from Kristen Stangl.

Scheider, also from Littleton, Colo., led Wyoming on the defensive end of the field last weekend, allowing just one goal and saving 18 shots in 180 minutes of action. In the Cowgirls 1-0 win over the Rebels, Scheider turned away seven shots for the match, earning her fourth shutout of the season. Against San Diego State, she recorded 11 saves in the match, including two diving saves in the closing minutes, to preserve Wyoming's 3-1 win. She held SDSU's two biggest offensive threats, two-time Offensive Player of the Week Lisette Martinez and Kim Castellanos, scoreless on one and two shots on goal, respectively. Scheider currently leads the MWC in saves (95), saves per game (7.92) and is tied for the lead in shutouts (four).
