Air Force * Air Force hosts Utah and BYU this week in MWC play. The Falcons are 0-5 all-time vs. Utah and winless in eight meetings against BYU. * Freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Drew needs just 156 more minutes in goal this season to set a new freshman record. * Meredith Benson is tied for sixth in the league with three goals. BYU * After opening MWC play with two games at home, BYU is now on the road for five straight contests, including a nonconference tilt with Texas, Oct. 14. The Cougars also travel to Air Force this week. * Goalkeeper Erika Woodbury has posted three consecutive shutouts and five overall. The senior, who earned MWC Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 11, shutout UNLV and San Diego State this past week. * Jamie Rendich is second in the conference in goals scored with five. New Mexico * The Lobos are on the road this week as they travel to UNLV and San Diego State. New Mexico has won four of its six meetings with UNLV, while it is just 3-5-2 vs. San Diego State. * Freshman Anna Neu scored the game-winning goal against Air Force, Oct. 10. The newcomer, who has started 10 of 11 games this season, scored from 15 yards out. * Junior goalkeeper Kristen Winters set the New Mexico record for victories with 20 after the Lobos defeated Air Force, Oct. 10. Winters is also just one shutout shy of tying Melissa Liston for the UNM record with 18. * New Mexico's roster features 13 players from the state of New Mexico, the most ever for a Lobos women's soccer team. San Diego State * SDSU has not allowed a goal in 296:44, its longest streak since 2003 when the Aztecs held their opponents scoreless for 299:54. UNLV broke that streak with a 1-0 win in the quarterfinals of the 2003 MWC Tournament. * Senior goalkeeper Sophia Perez leads the league in goals against average, giving up just 0.71 goals per game. The MWC Defensive Player of the Week is second in shutouts with six. * After playing its first two conference games of 2004 on the road this past weekend, San Diego State has played just four of its first 14 games this season at home. The Aztecs now have five straight at home to close the regular season. * San Diego State hosts Wyoming and New Mexico this weekend after opening MWC play on the road at BYU and Utah last week. The Aztecs are 3-2 all-time in Mountain West Conference home openers. UNLV * UNLV hosts New Mexico and Wyoming this week in MWC play. * Junior goalkeeper Jenna Huff had a scoreless streak of 504 minutes snapped in the Rebels' loss at BYU, 1-0, Oct. 9. The stretch lasted over six games and 10 complete halves of action before BYU scored in the second half. * UNLV defeated Utah in Salt Lake City, 1-0, Oct. 7. It was the first loss for the Utes at home since a 5-2 loss to BYU during the 2000 season. * The Rebels lead the league in fewest goals allowed (10) and goals against average (0.73). Utah * Utah is 10-2-2 in MWC regular-season play under coach Rich Manning, including a perfect 6-0-0 season in 2003. * Utah has been shutout in each of its past three games and five times overall this season. * Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Mason got her third shutout of the year in a 0-0 tie with San Diego State, Oct. 9. * Utah is 5-2 vs. NSCAA/adidas Top 25 teams under coach Rich Manning. The Oct. 1 win vs. UCLA was the Utes' first contest against a ranked team this season. * Eight Utes have netted goals already in 2004. Freshman Chelsea Card leads the team with four goals. Wyoming * The Cowgirls have recorded six shutouts already in 2004, including four from freshman goalkeeper Ashley Sheppard. The six shutouts is the second-highest season total in program history. The record of seven shutouts was set last season. * Senior Mari Gomes is now second all-time at Wyoming with 16 career goals after scoring in the 4-0 win over Northern Arizona. It was her seventh goal of the season. Both figures lead the MWC. She is also third on the Wyoming career chart with 35 points. * Wyoming has gone to overtime six times already in 2004, the most in program history. The Cowgirls are unbeaten in overtime this year with a record of 2-0-4. * Mercy Adetoye is now fourth all-time in Cowgirl history with 11 career goals after scoring a pair against Northern Arizona. She is also tied for second in assists in school history with six after notching an assist against NAU. Her five assists in 2004 ties the single-season record.
Rankings UNLV is currently ranked 10th in the NSCAA/adidas West Regional rankings. UNLV is 12th and Utah is 13th in the Soccer Buzz West Regional rankings.
