Air Force's Day Named MWC Soccer Player of the Week Sophomore scored two goals including the game-winner against UNC Greensboro.
Oct. 7, 2002 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force sophomore midfielder Cookie Day has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for her career-best five-point performance in the Falcons 5-4 comeback victory over UNC Greensboro. This is her first career weekly honor. Day, a Mansfield, Texas, native, scored two goals (also a career-best), including the game-winner, and added an assist for her five points. She gave Air Force a 1-0 advantage with a goal (assisted by Raegan McDowell) in the 15th minute. After four consecutive goals by the Spartans and a Falcon goal by Raegan McDowell, she assisted Mary Cholko's game-tying goal in the 69th minute then knocked in the unassisted game-winner from the top of the box in the 86th minute, securing the victory. On the season, Day leads the Falcons with five goals, three game-winning, and 12 total points.
